Sometimes the only way to keep secrets buried is to put up a smokescreen so thick, it's impossible to see the truth.

Shirley Graham, a vice-president with the largest bank in Seattle, is found dead by the side of the road, still wearing one of her high-powered business suits. Well-known in her profession and respected by her colleagues, finding a skeleton buried in her basement sends shock waves through the community.

When Gin and her team arrive on the scene, the local PD are only too glad to wash their hands of both homicides, especially since the skeleton was identified as the main suspect in the disappearance of ten million dollars seven years before. Even stranger, he was found with a bag of banknotes that hadn’t been issued until three years after he'd been murdered.

It was a puzzle that a figure hiding in plain sight is determined will never be solved, no matter how many roadblocks, or more dead bodies, have to be thrown in Gin’s path. As she picks her way through a fog of lies and deceptions, a killer becomes increasingly desperate to keep Shirley’s secrets buried along with his victims, even if one persistent FBI agent has to be buried with them.
