A novel by

Golden-eyed Vanessa lives in a hidden city in the jungle, not far from the Amazon River. Like the other residents of the female-only city, she's nearly 6 feet tall, exceptionally beautiful, strong, and trained as a warrior. Unlike her friends, however, Vanessa has been unable to repress her emotions, and instinct tells her that her destiny lies beyond the walled city. Daniel Heywood, the son of a British Earl, craves adventure. He's also determined to establish a legacy as a naturalist; despite his father's wishes, Daniel travels to South America and up the Amazon River. His quest seems doomed when native Indians attack his small band and Daniel himself is hit by a poisoned dart. Nearly unconscious, he is vaguely aware of the tall warriors that have driven off the Indians. But it isn't until he awakens the next day that he discovers his rescuers are women. He's pleased to be alive, but quickly learns from his interpreter, Vanessa, that the Amazon's have plans for him that don't bode well for a long and leisurely life. Daniel lusts after Vanessa's beautiful body but soon discovers that she's also a wise woman with an innocent, pure heart. When she agrees to aid him in escaping, he decides to take her with him back to England. Vanessa, too, craves adventure, but she is also deeply attracted to Daniel. What neither of them realizes is that fate and the prophecy of an Amazon seer have set them on a road that will test the strength of their will, their integrity, and the enduring power of their love. Will Vanessa's wisdom guide her through the intrigues of England society? Will Daniel grow beyond his need for vengeance against his father and claim Vanessa's love?
