He brought two revolvers. He came down with a wrench.

Harlan Teague died in his own workshop with a hacksaw cut half-finished on the bench. He left a key, a line of coordinates in his own hand, and a daughter with strangers' boot tracks across her land.

The coordinates point into a mountain basin nobody has worked in forty years — a shut-down mine, an aerial tramway gone slack on its towers, and an aircraft lying in the snow with something aboard it worth killing a careful old man for.

Frank Kane goes up to look.

He is not the only one. The crew already working that basin is organized, well armed, and has no intention of leaving anyone alive who can describe them. They have the numbers, the ground, and the weather coming in behind them.

Frank has a mountain full of machinery that was built to move rock — and a lifetime of knowing exactly what a machine will do when it comes apart.

The Stranded is the tenth Frank Kane thriller. It stands alone.
