The Polperro Murders
(2026)(The eighth book in the DI Ryder Murder Mystery series)
A novel by Jack Christie
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘A gripping, atmospheric thriller. The Cornish setting is perfect, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end.’
An unexpected Indian summer brings the crowds to the Cornish coast. The beaches are packed, the shoreline humming with the easy rhythm of a rare, sun-drenched afternoon.
That rhythm is shattered when a body washes ashore.
DCI Ryder and DS Ellie Tozer expect a tragic accident. They get something far more sinister. The victim hasn’t drowned—he’s been carefully embalmed, preserved with clinical precision. A burial at sea that was never meant to return to the surface.
Then the case takes a bewildering turn. The dead man is identified. And the impossible becomes clear: according to official records, he is still alive.
Ryder’s big-city instincts clash with the slower pace of local policing as he and Tozer are pulled into a patient, calculating deception hidden in plain sight ''' a darkness that simply doesn't belong in a place like this.
And just as they begin to unpick the truth… a second body washes ashore.
Genre: Mystery
