He only needed a wife on paper. Now he’s determined to claim her in every way that matters.

Clara
Okay, so maybe I’m a little strapped for cash lately. But that’s not my fault!
I mean, I never expected for my mom to die, leaving me in charge of my preteen younger sister.
Now I’ve got to figure out how to pay the bills, fix my car, and convince a twelve year old that algebra and broccoli aren’t so bad.

Needless to say, I have no idea what I’m doing.
But I
do know that the last thing I have time for right now is a man.
Men only bring more problems — heartbreak and tears, usually — and I’ve got enough of those by myself right now.
But then Owen Henley, Wild Bronco’s most eligible bachelor, walks into my work and flips all of my precarious plans upside down.

At first, I think he wants something casual. Then I realize what he really wants: money.
His inheritance hinges on him finding a wife and settling down, and for some reason, he’s decided I’m the perfect prop.
Problem is, I’m not some kind of cardboard cutout for a rich guy to place in his home.
I might have money problems and a truck that won’t start. But I also have pride.

Owen doesn’t take no for an answer, though. He pursues. He
chases.
He puts his hand on the small of my back and whispers dangerous words in my ear.
I’m falling for him, even if I don’t want to.
Sometimes it feels like he’s falling for me too.
Until I can’t tell what’s fake and what’s real anymore.

Owen
My father is dying. To receive my inheritance? I have to get married.
Don’t ask me why. None of us have ever understood the way our dad thinks.
All I know is that if I don’t find a bride soon, I’ll get nothing.
Everything I’ve worked for, the family empire I’ve helped build…gone, slipped through my fingers.
All because I didn’t say some stupid vows to a woman and give her my last name.

My brother thinks I should get it over with and hire a fake wife.
And I’m starting to think he’s right.
But then I see
her.
Curvy and gorgeous…sharp-tongued and fiery, too.
Not intimidated by my money and status. Not afraid to put me in my place when I deserve it — which is often.

I have to have her. But Clara isn’t like the others. She doesn’t want my money, won’t submit to my will.
Claiming her is going to be harder than I thought.
But I won’t stop until she’s mine.
This isn’t a fake marriage. This love is real.
