The scent intrigued him and his men. It was unusual and unique. . Mechanical elements, similar to Cyborg. But this was human. A spy maybe.
He would find out.

A new rotation, a new world. One of thousands in the ever-expanding universe. The Cyborg Empire had been policing this world for generations. Three-year deployment, then move on. They were searching. Looking for mates and their brothers lost to it.

And at every new mission, the chance of life. If, they were lucky to find her.

She kept her head down. The hat low over her eyes as she watched the landing site below. She didn't need to see the new rotation. The place in uproar as it always was with the old going and new coming.
All that had nothing to do with her and she liked it that way.
Liked her isolation. Her peace.
She wasn’t looking for anything more, she was content. She liked being alone. Liked her space.
She didn’t need the Cyborgs in her life.

She'd been young and stupid once. Naive and it had cost her. She’d learnt her lesson well and stayed away from everyone, she wasn't going there again. She was different to the others here. Differences people rejected.
They didn’t want her. That was okay with her. She had her interests; her work and she was happy. She didn't need more.

Some thought less of her because she couldn't hear or speak. They were wrong.

She could do things others couldn’t. And still, her people rejected her. She’d tried and got the message.

She was alone.
