Arlene Saunders doesn't like anything about her new home in the town of Dead Man's Rock. It's cold. It's cloudy all the time. Her house sits perched high on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and has a driveway with a fifteen percent grade. Nor can she stand to hear her father always talking about tsunamis and making up warning signs as part of his new job for Oregon Parks and Recreation.
Even worse, she keeps on having nightmares about climbing a rock just off shore called Dead Man's Rock after which the town is named. The sea is closing in on her and bright yellow eyes are looking at her from every direction.
