A novel by

Carissa has always lived next door to Algernon, the rich, spoiled boy on the block who is used to having his own way. Now he wants more. When he sees her eating hot dogs at a movie theater with her best friend, he sends her a package of hot dogs as a present. If she goes out to the spring dance with another guy, he surprises her with a photo of them dancing together. If she goes to buy a dress, it's magically already paid for. He's closing in on her from every side. She cannot get away. Nor can she get away from Algernon's love poems. She hears his voice everywhere --- even in class in school. She can't hurry down the street without hearing him reciting his verses, always dedicated to her --- though she sees him nowhere.

Soon Carissa doesn't want to go anywhere at all. What can she do before it gets even worse and somebody gets hurt?
