The war is over. Rosalie De Crecy, her maiden Aunt Lucille, and her little sister Cecile are left to cope as best they might as survivors of the War Between the States. Rosalie's parents, the General and Angelique De Crecy, died before New Orleans was occupied by Federal forces. In one sense Rosalie is glad.
