Casual Farming

(2022)
(The first book in the Sowing Season series)
A novel by

Jason Hunter wanted a quieter life. Inheriting an eighty-acre farm outside the little town of Summer Shandy might be his chance to build one.

There are just a few problems.

The farmhouse is falling apart. The fields haven’t been tilled in years. Giant spiders have claimed the outbuildings, the weeds fight back, and Jason has only so many Actions each day to turn the neglected property into a working farm.

Still, everyone has to start somewhere.

Armed with his uncle’s old tools, a Farmer Class he barely understands, and advice from Summer Shandy’s eccentric residents, Jason begins the long work of making the farm his own. Every repaired fence, planted seed, and hard-earned level brings him closer to the simple country life he came looking for. He might even find something more with Tess, the sharp-tongued guildmaster who publishes the local farming almanac.

But trouble is growing beneath Summer Shandy.

A dangerous new event has appeared in the town’s dungeon, and the powerful Dungeon Guild seems far more interested in profit than protecting the people caught in its path. Jason may only be a novice farmer, but Summer Shandy is becoming his home, and he won’t stand aside while someone threatens the life he has worked so hard to build.

Welcome to Summer Shandy, where the crops are magical, the monsters are troublesome, and the good life starts with someone foolish enough to try.

A warm and humorous slice-of-life LitRPG filled with farming, friendship, slow-burn romance, seasonal festivals, magical progression, and the quiet satisfaction of building a place to call home.
