Growing up they were just childhood friends, but it turns out that she’s a mage and he’s a dragon rider, and they are bound together through destiny—whether they like it or not.

Chelsea's normal life is shattered when a portal drags her to another world alongside her brother and two childhood friends, where they are cursed to remain until they can fulfill the destiny her father never could. Except the mad immortal who bound her to this world failed to tell her just what exactly this destiny is. Only that it’s super important and extremely dangerous.

But that isn’t the worst part, because Chelsea also learns that she is a mage—not as cool as it sounds—and magic in this world is corrupted (what isn’t?) so it can make her go mad if she uses it too much. It will also draw all sorts of unwanted attention as creatures and thieves seek her out for her magical blood. Forbidden to reveal the truth of her magic, Chelsea keeps it a secret even from her friends, but she is finding it harder and harder to maintain the lie.

Especially from Easton, her perceptive friend turned dragon rider, who is just a little too smart for her liking.
Especially when she and Easton are separated from the others and their quest brings the two of them to a manor haunted by a monstrous bookkeeper who can smell the magic in her blood. The bookkeeper is a shapeshifter who wants to eat her, and Easton has no idea, but how exactly is she supposed to tell him without admitting that she’s lied to him this whole time?

As danger closes in around them, Chelsea is left wondering which will get her killed first, her magic and the darkness it draws to her, or her supposed ‘destiny’ to be a hero to an already fallen realm.

The Mage’s War Saga is a YA portal fantasy series with echoes of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, the Wizard of Oz, and King Arthur. Set in a vibrant world of decaying magic this series is full of humor, whimsy, sweet slow-burn romance, and stepping into your destiny whether you want to or not.
