A nasty illness on top of a broken engagement had left Frances feeling less than her best, so she was glad to accept her aunt's invitation to visit her on the lsle of Man for a few weeks. And it would be nice too, she thought, to renew her acquaintance with her step- cousin William, whom she remembered from so many happy childhood holidays. She wouldn't have looked forward to it so much, though, had she known how much William had changed-for the worse. Rude, moody and unreasonable-Frances just couldn't understand him now. Nor could she understand why, in spite of it all, she was becoming more and more attracted to him . . .
