I can’t say I ever thought living in a post-apocalyptic world after an all-out nuclear bombardment would be so strange. And yet here we are. Directed genetic mutations are playing havoc with my life, but I have to say that it’s mainly a net positive.
Too bad the rest of my life isn’t the same.
Mila and Orlo, the loves of my life, are at home while I try to identify whoever’s responsible for the destruction of the clan territories. I’ve found two of them that should be at the top of that list.
Except my life is never all that simple.
There are plans and plots coming from every direction, with me and my people in the middle, and it’s getting harder and harder to keep track of everything and dig down to the truth behind everything coming our way.
Made worse when the revelations about myself keep coming.
I’m even more of a freak than I originally thought, and that’s saying something.
Is it even possible to stay on course when everything keeps changing and more players are being added to the game I didn’t even know we were in? Where one false step could result in the deaths of everyone I know and love?
I’m trying. I’m struggling. I’m doing everything I can to uncover the people involved and identify the safest path forward so that we can make it through alive. I’m desperate to do that. I have the loves of my long, long life at risk, and I want with everything in me to be with them.
Our enemies have different plans, though, with one of them already coming far too close to destroying the world and leaving behind the rubble of once beautiful planet circling our sun.
When the near death of the world by nuclear war is the better alternative and rebuilding humanity from the dust and wreckage of a once great society is the lesser of two evils, sometimes you have to have the greatest evil there to help guide you through.
Too bad for me that greatest evil is…me.
