My experiment of living in New York City is behind me. That’s what happens when more than twelve hundred people get into a mass challenge fight with a sixteen-year-old girl.
And that girl wins.
Would you stay in the city after that?
That’s not for me, especially since Laura, my former girlfriend, cheated on me within days and managed to tear my heart out and stomp on it.
Which is why I’m traveling with a hunter. The very person in my life that is specifically tasked with killing people like I am.
Now it’s hiding in plain sight as I try to figure out where to live to graduate high school and then plan out the rest of my life.
Somehow, being released from a veritable prison for less than two months doesn’t give me many firm plans about things like that.
Yet life doesn’t fit into plans. It rather does what it wants. Which means, when I walk into another situation where my freedom is at risk, can I make it through again? You can’t win every fight. No one does. At some point you’ll fall, and the world will grind you up in its remorseless gears.
My name is Sonni, and I’m starting over. Again. This is the third time in two months, and it’s getting old. I want it to go well. Smoothly. Too bad my track record isn’t exactly filling me with hope.
Genre: Urban Fantasy
