Being lost in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash isn’t the school trip we were expecting. We should have gone to Florida and made memories to talk about at future class reunions
I guess we’re still making memories, it’s just that our reunions will be far smaller than any of us would have ever anticipated.
My name is Bell, and I’m struggling.
I started as a pariah in my class. Reviled and hated for being just a tad bit insane. That continued out here, to the point that I was literally beaten to death and left alone in the woods as a tough love thing. Seems I needed that time to grow as a person. Just not as a human. After all, that time allowed me to discover that I’m actually an elf. I’m the first of a reborn species, and the girl I’ve loved for years is becoming one too.
Much like my time in Warden’s cage, the wilderness has one rule. You do what it takes to survive, or you die.
With life changing so drastically and factions forming among the survivors, can we actually survive out here? It’s not a given living in the wild, but when you have fanatics that want you to follow them or pay the price you see where I’m going with that?
Can we survive? We’re trying; we’re trying with everything in us. Unfortunately, it’s time to do more than try, though. Surviving until we’re rescued is our goal, and every day requires committing ourselves to that effort.
I don’t know about most of my fellow survivors, but when the alternative is death, there’s very little I won’t do to live another day.
Genre: Fantasy
