My name is Bell, and my life is nothing like what it should be. Frankly, I should be homeless after graduating high school and being tossed out of my foster home. Instead?
Instead, I’m in northwest Canada with the survivors of our plane crash that cut our class trip short. Or maybe made it longer? After all, our trip to Florida was supposed to be for a week and it’s been months and months so far, with no signs of rescue coming our way.
Life in the wilderness is hard. Deadly. Our numbers keep dropping, and nature’s gonna nature. Storms. Cold. Wind. Starvation.
At least I haven’t been hunted for prey to be killed and eaten by my fellow cabin members. Again.
I was told by the serial killer that held me for more than two years that I persevere. It was the only reason I made it through his daily challenges. That mindset has been shared with my fellow cabin members, yet times they are a changin’.
Life had been hard up to now. I had no idea it would get harder. More violent. More deadly.
We’ve broken up into separate camps, each with their own goals. Too bad some of them don’t have our best interests in mind and war is coming.
Can we survive that on top of being out here in the wild? Is that even possible? When you’re beset on all sides by chaos and death, nothing is guaranteed. Especially when the path you’ve been fighting to stay on requires a course correction.
And here I thought surviving the time in Warden’s cage was difficult.
