While Avery Winston’s away with clients enjoying a romantic anniversary weekend, trouble arrives in Owl’s Nest. Dozens of people have received anonymous letters accusing them of heinous and embarrassing behavior, most of which contain a measure of truth. Included in the mess is the well-respected police sergeant Tucker Beaulieu, who has been placed on suspension ‘until this is straightened out’.

Avery and her besties Harper and Mia will not sit back and see their friends fighting like proverbial cats and dogs. Will not see Tucker’s reputation ruined by rumor and inuendo. But before they can begin collecting clues to stop the smear campaign, Avery’s beloved townspeople turn on them. ‘Why haven’t you gotten letters? How can you do such a thing?’

These accusations are short-lived as soon as people realize there’s a stranger in town. Pierce Flanagan has ties to several people here. And not in a good way. He must be the perpetrator come to exact revenge. Before they can form a lynch mob, Avery gets the investigation underway, unearthing secret after secret. How will she ever look at these people in the same way?

Even though her ex is in prison, Preston continues to affect Avery’s life as another ex of his arrives with demands. Hopefully these distractions won’t overshadow her finally-moving-forward relationship with Mack.

Voices from the past can oust even the most deeply buried secrets. Can Avery exhume them before more damage is done?
