SERGIO VITALE
I live and breathe for the Agosti family. After being the cause of Elio almost losing his queen, I owe them nothing less than my life. I can’t change what happened that day, but I can make sure it doesn’t happen again. I’m resolute in my responsibilities, until I see her—a flower amidst the darkness.

She is too innocent for the world and doesn’t see the danger lurking around her, but I do. The man who wants to buy her grandfather’s bookstore won’t play fair; men like him only know how to take and destroy. I won’t let him do that to my Marigold.

I bring chaos into her world, but I’ll show her there is beauty to be found within my protection. I won’t let anything come between us. I’ll become her beast because it is the only way to ensure she’s never tainted by the blood that stains my hands. They can come, but they’ll never win.

MARIGOLD
I’m used to getting lost in the fantasy worlds that surround me in my grandfather’s bookstore, but I can’t ignore my reality right now. The real estate developer trying to buy the store while asking me out is hiding his greed behind charming smiles and won’t take no for an answer. I’m learning there’s a whole other world out there filled with danger, violence, and mayhem. I don’t know all the rules and I’m scared with every step.

Sergio steps out of the darkness and saves me when I need him to. He’s not a white knight intent on saving the damsel in distress. He’s a beast and it’s far too late to guard my heart from him. He claims it the moment he saves me.

Sergio will protect me, no matter the cost. He may be a beast, but he’s mine. I cling to the faith that he will always come for me when I find myself shrouded in darkness and fearing a monster in an expensive suit. There is beauty in his chaos and now I can’t live without it.

This book was originally published as part of the Vows and Vendettas Mafia Anthology.

**18+. This story has dark themes and a morally gray hero. You’ll still find an insta-love story that is spicy and isn’t necessarily simple, but with darker themes, situations, rough spicy times, and depictions of violence (not between the MMC and MFC). No cheating with a guaranteed HEA. This book is part of my Agosti Crime Family series but can be read as a standalone. Meet the Agosti family in Flames and Flowers. Check out the chronological reading order for the Agosti Crime Family books below.**
