Siege of the Witches

(2000)
A novel by

It is believed that the soul of the being is captured in the heart at the moment of death. If the soul is evil, the heart should be taken, sealed and placed far away, severing any ability the entity would have to return to this earth.

Sarafina was an entity such as that. A spawn of evil from the darkest side. She held her reign in the seventeen hundreds, taking the minds of the weak and innocent to build her forces. Stealing the hearts and souls of her victims to add to her power and strength. Sarafina met her end, bound to a post, set to flames and her heart taken from her. They sealed it in a box and buried it deep below the earth's surface.

When they buried Sarafina's heart, they buried the evil of Sarafina. So they thought. Centuries had passed and the story of Sarafina became a folklore. Six-year old Libby Harris heard of no such folklore, nor would she care if she had. All that was on Libby's mind as she sat in her backyard was digging for buried treasure. Little did she know as her tiny hands touched upon the tin box, that she uncovered more than she ever anticipated. Curiosity caused Libby to open that box. Her curiosity unleashed the evil. And the innocence of the six-year-old girl allowed for Sarafina to enter her, take her body and possess her soul.

Sarafina's dark reign returns. Only this time she releases it to an unsuspecting, unprepared modern world through the body of a small and innocent child.
