If one more person asked me to explain the symbolism in a piece that was never meant to be symbolic, my next painting would be titled Portrait of an Artist During an Epic Meltdown.
All I wanted was to express myself and not worry about whether my latest creations were up to snuff. Seriously? Like I needed more pressure in my life.
So why was my manager texting me about partnering with a poet to craft a collaborative piece for the end of retreat gala when I wasn’t even aware there was going to be one?
Now I was left to wonder what other surprises were going to crop up next.
