True love is patient, steadfast, a love that doesn’t demand … it heals.
COPPER
I’d wanted her before I’d even met her.
But I knew building a relationship with her would take time and care.
Deep down, I knew she had done something most people wouldn’t …at great cost to herself.
She was the strongest woman I’d ever met, someone who had taken on a dangerous job, sacrificing her own well-being to ensure others were safe.
From the moment I met her, it was clear she had been punishing herself for years. She believed she was incapable of love. I made it my mission to show her otherwise. To prove that she could love, and that she was worthy of having that love returned.
It became my duty to protect her and stand behind her whenever she needed me.
It took months for her to finally see what I saw when I looked at her.
I was a patient man, and we had time… until time ran out.
BELLA
Two years ago, I broke something important to me, and in the process, I broke myself. But I did it, and I would do it again, even if it meant hating myself for it.
And I did hate myself.
I punished myself, refusing to feel… because, my God, it hurt.
He wasn’t what I was expecting, yet not once did he make me feel like I needed to apologise for doing what was right. He supported me, and he showed me I was worthy of love.
What grew between us was something entirely different to what I’d had before. And I knew this because if I were asked the same question again, this time my answer would different.
He never pressured me, but he was always there …. steady, patient, and constant. His presence showed me, in every way, that I was worthy of being loved.
He thawed the coldness in my heart, one sweet gesture at a time, until I felt safe, cared for, and cherished.
This time I’d take the gift I’d been given and hold onto it for as long as I could or …. until time ran out.
