For a variety of reasons, Miss India Leigh and her young brother Richard settled in the Fen country. While her reasons were sound, unfortunately she had not taken account of the dearth of suitable acquaintance in the area, and when Richard became friends with Viscount Badrolph's younger brother Bartram, their shenanigans brought India and the Viscount into distressingly uncomfortable contact.
