As far as anyone is concerned, the children are runaways, but when Quigg and Rummage investigate they find something a lot more sinister. Also, Sergeant Ada Sage is threatening to report him for sexual harassment unless she gets what she wants; Inspector Nicky Wright also wants some more odd jobs completing, but odd jobs are the last thing on her mind; and to get Mrs Morbid to put Mandy back on the post, he has to promise to investigate a haunted house in Copperfield Street.
