An Unequal Match

Penniless and hungry, it seems that life could not be worse for Verena Barrington, until she discovers her father has, incredibly, secured a marriage for her to the new Marquis of Strafford. The Marquis is unable to find a way out of the marriage, despite the unwillingness also of his bride. This urchin fills him with disgust, and he leaves for France the day after the ceremony. But when he returns after two years, the situation is vastly different...
