Five gripping British crime mysteries set in Lincolnshire. Over 1400 pages of twists, turns and tension. One unforgettable partnership.

Jane Bell, recently widowed and searching for purpose, leaves behind her life as a teacher to become a volunteer special constable.

On her very first shift, Jane is called to a murder scene. A young man has dragged himself up the historic Greestone Stairs to die — but something about the scene doesn’t sit right with her.

For
Detective Steph Warwick, specials are more trouble than they’re worth. This meddlesome rookie is an unwelcome distraction, and Jane’s interference might prove dangerous.

Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Helen H. Durrant, Rachel McLean and Michael Hambling.

MEET THE DETECTIVES
Special Constable Jane Bell is in her mid-forties, a widow of three years following the premature death of her husband, Sam. She has two grown-up children, Patrick and Norah, who are pursuing careers in London. After Sam’s death, Jane makes some changes to her life. She downsizes from their large family home in the country to a cottage in Lincoln and leaves her job as a teacher to volunteer as a special constable with the police.

DI Stephanie Warwick is in her mid-thirties. She left school at eighteen and worked in a bank before joining the police. She is haunted by her ex-boyfriend, Cal. He attempted to kill her twelve years ago, and murdered her best friend. As a result, Steph finds it difficult to trust people and form relationships. Work is where she feels most in control and her fierce determination to speak for victims makes her one of Lincoln CID’s most formidable investigators.

Thrown together by circumstance rather than choice, they form a partnership that is uneasy, effective — and essential to solving crimes no one else can.

THE SETTING
From the frost-slick stones of Greestone Stairs to the winding lanes of the Cathedral Quarter, Lincoln’s historic beauty hides darker undercurrents. Students vanish into the night, alleyways become battlegrounds, and behind terraced doors, violence simmers. The city becomes both backdrop and adversary as Warwick and Bell dig for the truth.
