The Ring Of Flames

It is the year 1008 AD and al-Mansur, the despotic ruler of al-Andalus is dead. Without his iron grip the country is heading for civil war as the pretenders to the throne engage in battle after battle in an attempt to gain supremacy of the Omayyad dynasty. Amidst all the turmoil, Ahmad continues to look after the falcons, but he is torn between his concern for his family's safety and his loyalty to al-Hisham, the rightful caliph. The city of Cordoba is surrounded and the palace of Madinat al-Zahra is in ruins. There seems to be no escape for him or his family, until help comes from an unexpected ally.
