A novel by

Freeland and his Mother have escaped from Meria due to a daring attack and have settled down in Castia along with a former enemy turned ally. In the politically charged kingdom of Castia, the arrival of the powerful Merian Mages has ignited resentment among the native Casters. Freeland is now living as a Caster and is the stepson of the new Archmage, Hawthorne. Freeland is under intense pressure from Hawthorne to abandon his craft and join the elite Battlemages to consolidate the Rebrils' power and wealth.

Freeland is thrust into a dangerous game when he is forced to attend a party hosted by the rival Groves family, a gathering that quickly exposes new threats: a looming change to the Battlemage hierarchy and the sudden appearance of former Merian associates who Freeland suspects are spies for the Merian King.

As rivalries escalate and the fate of the Archmage's title hangs in the balance, Freeland must decide: Will he surrender to the cutthroat world of Caster politics, or will his unique skills as an Enchanter prove to be the most formidable weapon in the kingdom?
