Rebecca was the best big sister anyone could ever ask for. So when she brought up the 'yacht-slash-crew-member' cruise idea, I went along with it. I'd never been on a cruise, or a yacht. Much less Hawaii where we would leave from or whatever resort island she said we would end up at. Two of the trust-fund scions were paying for all of it so - I mean, free vacation to exotic places? Sure, I'm in.
So it's Rebecca and me, sisters Philomena and Philadelphia Masters (yeah, I'm guessing their parents had an odd sense of humor about naming their kids), cousins Matt and Jake Robinson and the trust-fund brothers paying for it all, Jeff and Greg MacLauren.
Three years ago, I'd been an assistant on a film Matt had been the set director for. He called me his good luck charm and said as soon as we got back, I'd be working for him. Sweet! And he and Rebecca are finding new places on the yacht to get together.
So the future is looking rosy for my sister and me.
Unfortunately, none of us consulted Mother Nature in our plans. I think that ticked her off and she decided to show us what happened if there was water in the yacht as well as outside with a storm the captain couldn't get away from.
Somehow, the eight of us reached an island with no serious injuries besides swallowing half the Pacific Ocean.
Then I ended up with Jake as my partner while Rebecca was with Matt.
Now, I'm not so sure I want to be rescued. Because when we return to the real world, Jake won't want me anymore.
And then Mother Earth flipped the tables on all us.
