A novel by

Single mother Hannah Henderson has been doing it all since her fiancé died when she was a teenager. Just seventeen when she found herself pregnant, she has raised her daughter alone. Now after 25 years of sacrificing to give her daughter a better start in life than she had, Hannah is about to see Hope graduate from medical school and marry the man of her dreams.
Chief of Police Jim Butcher has seen Hannah regularly at the Savings and Loan office where she’s worked for the five years he has been with the Gordo, Alabama Police Department. When on a “welfare call” he finds Hannah ill and unconscious, Jim believes that she needs someone to take care of her.
Hannah has worked hard to support her daughter, sometimes two jobs at a time. She hasn’t had time for anything else since Hope was born, and she still believes she must prove that she is good enough. She isn’t certain she can give herself to anyone after so long alone. Can Jim convince her that she is still a young woman with plenty of time to live for herself and, perhaps, fall in love again?
