Steele doesn't think twice about lending a hand and accompanying six young runaways on the eastbound trail. But these young people, claiming to be married, seem to attract trouble like magnets.
While Steele is kept busy fending off an unusually high number of lethal attacks from hostile Indians and vicious drunken Cavalry men gone AWOL, he begins to wonder if these innocent young folk don't have something to hide.
Maybe he's the one who needs protecting, not them. It looks like he'll be finding out the hard Way, on a long trail...
