Rob Morgan is young, brave, and burning with ambition. When he and his friends witness a stagecoach robbery, Morgan is determined to find the bandit with the silver hat and claim the Wells-Fargo reward. When a chance friendship develops between Morgan and Benito Fontana of the Fontana Rancho and hacienda, Morgan becomes a regular visitor to the ranch.

His quest to find the stagecoach thief is made even more complicated with the Fontana friendship. Morgan suspects Steve Question of the stagecoach robbery -- and he and Question have become bitter enemies. But it so happens that Question is a friend of the Fontanas too. Both men notice that a mysterious girl the locals call Golden Tiger Lily appears -- and disappears -- regularly from the Fontana Rancho garden. And when one day she shows up wearing gold coins from the stagecoach heist, Question becomes livid. Both Question and Morgan trail Lily, and in so doing, they inadvertently imperil he lives of everyone at the Rancho Fontana.
