THE COST OF HISTORY
Stormcrow Chronicles I

The City of Stormcrow. Where the world was saved.

For centuries, the great city has stood watch over the Great Wound, where Lord Alerian Blackwood slew the Demon Lord, ended the Planar Cataclysm, and founded the Iron Cross Mercenary Guild to guard the darkness beneath the mountains. From that ancient scar grew the Under Realm, an endless labyrinth of forgotten kingdoms, ancient civilizations, impossible creatures, and portals leading to worlds beyond imagination. It is a place of wonder, fortune, and unimaginable danger, where every descent uncovers another piece of a world that refuses to surrender its secrets.

Twenty years ago, the impossible happened.

An ancient machine, believed destroyed since the age of the original Lord Blackwood, awakened beneath Stormcrow. If left unchecked, it would once again spread the portals across Morterrus and plunge the world into another Planar Cataclysm. Roland Voss and the twelve mercenaries of his company descended into the Under Realm and stopped it before history could repeat itself. Their names became legend, and when the fighting was finally over, Roland Voss became Lord of Stormcrow.

His company was dissolved, and the twelve who had shared that impossible journey finally laid down their weapons. Friends, comrades, and family, they returned to lives they had never expected to have, believing the war that had defined them was finally over.

For twenty years, they were right. Then twelve Stormcrows took to the skies. Each flew to a different corner of Morterrus. Each sought out one of the twelve mercenaries who had once followed Roland Voss into the darkness beneath Stormcrow. And each carried the same message.

You are needed.

Come home.

For Brom Ironshield and his daughter Bronwyn, there is no hesitation. If Roland Voss is calling them home after twenty years, then something beneath Stormcrow has awakened once more.

The road awaits.
