The Husband's Deceit

(2024)
A novel by

A month into my new job, my boss is found murdered in the bedroom of his weekend beach house. The police arrested a wandering vagrant, but I'm not convinced they got the right person. In fact, I'm almost certain I know who did it.

My coworker.

I seem to be the only one in my office who knows that Suzanne was having an affair with our boss, and she's the last person anyone would suspect. She's shy, quiet, and keeps to herself. But before my boss was found dead, I caught them together in a heated, intimate argument.

The police say there is no evidence she was in the house the night of the murder, but if that's true, then who was? The more I learn about Suzanne and her life, the more frightened I become. Her husband is an angry, violent man, and so is her possessive, criminal brother. I don't know who to trust, or what to believe.

Hemmingsville is a small town, and in small towns, dark things sometimes happen behind closed doors.
But truth be told, nothing could prepare me for how
dark things were about to get...
