The Last Step

The victim, found shot to death on a public stairway, is a recently paroled prison inmate. Is it a deliberate act of vengeance, and does it mean the killer will be looking for more victims? Detectives Jilly Garvey and Dan Lee are put on the case; but their colleague Leon Simpkins, who has taken an unexpected interest, seems to find it all striking uncomfortably close to home. Before they can solve the crime, the three will have to uncover deep secrets, with a profound effect on almost everyone involved.
