Alex Gray

Scotland (1950 - )

Alex Gray was born and educated in Glasgow, the city that provides the backdrop to her crime novels. She attended Hutchesons Grammar School and then gained an honours degree in English at the University of Strathclyde during which time her writing skills were recognised, not only in prose but also in poetry.Music always played a large part in Alexs life. At school she was in the choir and in her sixth year she helped begin the schools folk club while at University she was a founder member of the now world famous Battlefield band. Folk music eventually gave way to classical and for many years she was a member of the City of Glasgow Chorus, an experience that gave her insight into the citys musical world.

Alex is a member of Erskine Writers group and enjoys the camaraderie and encouragement of other writer members. She has a busy schedule as a visiting speaker and loves meeting other groups and schools around the country.

Today Alex lives outside the city with her husband and their two cats, enjoying the quietness of rural life while plotting mischief and mayhem in her fiction.
