A Novella by

This third book of Dusty McCoy by D. M. Haggard is charged with excitement, violence, and surprises. Rustling, assaults, and gunplay were common in the 1870s. The eventual introduction of barbed wire fencing and the elimination of free-range ranching created considerable disquiet between settlers, ranchers, and their Indian neighbors.

As you found out in book two, Dead Meat, Dusty spent two years as a range enforcer for the huge XIT Ranch in Texas. His time doing that was vicious and dangerous. He was paid a small fortune for his work, but any job that is filled with killing and danger can wear on a cowboy. He finally decided he needed to go home.

His trip to his original home in Puryear, Tennessee, was interrupted by a well-known federal judge commonly known as “the Hanging Judge” in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Not until later did Dusty realize that the first assignment given to him by Judge Parker would involve much destruction and many deaths.
