Murder at Wootton Windmill

(2026)
(A book in the Wootton Windmill Mystery series)
A novel by

One historic windmill. Three generations of sleuths. The mystery that started it all.

This is the perfect starting point for the Wootton Windmill Mysteries. It's a full-length standalone prequel, which follows Ellie, her daughter and her mother-in-law as they tackle their first investigation, two years before book 1.

Here's the story:

It’s open day at Wootton Windmill, and Ellie Blix is determined to make it magical – even with a broken wrist and her husband off on a training course.

The horse-and-cart rides are full. Cupcakes are being devoured in a flash and children are dressing up in oat, wheat, barley and rye costumes.

But when Agnes Celandine, the village herbalist, collapses after a cup of tea which Ellie’s daughter has fetched for her, the event comes to a halt.

Agnes has been poisoned. In her notebook: a sprig of lavender and three cryptic words – "tithe of threes".

Feeling responsible, and potentially under suspicion, Ellie, her daughter, and her mother-in-law begin asking questions. But Agnes’ secrets run deep... and someone in the village doesn’t want them to get out.

Please note: this is a full length novel, not a short story. It's the same length as all the books in the series. It's designed to be read (if you wish)
before Murder at the Christmas Carols (book 1). Or you can simply start at book 1. This prequel is set two years before book 1, so it's exactly the same world and people.

Genre: Cozy Mystery
