That’s why, when he collides with Piper over a dead body, things immediately come to a head.
Jasper wants to solve the case on his own. He actually knew the dead woman. He’s not some upstart who purposely left town only to return and try to steal his thunder. Since the body was found on her property, Piper refuses to be cut out of the investigation.
