You can never step into the same river twice...

Maisie Frobisher imagines her return to London will be a triumph. However, it isn’t quite as she expected. For one thing, she has more than a little explaining to do.

Inspector Hamilton is investigating the British end of the operation he and Maisie uncovered in India. Meanwhile, Maisie re-enters high society, which is much less exciting than she remembers. She isn’t the person she was when she left – and she can’t share that information with anyone.

Soon, Maisie acquires a task of her own. An assassin is preying on society victims, and Maisie is in the perfect position to keep her eyes and ears open.

Understandably, Inspector Hamilton is concerned, but Maisie throws herself into her work. The return of an old flame complicates matters, as does Maisie’s appearance in a gossip column. And then the assassin strikes again...

As the death toll rises, can Maisie and the Inspector keep themselves out of danger? Can they find common ground in their respective missions? And will their engagement survive the constraints of London life?

In Plain Sight is the fourth book in the Maisie Frobisher Mysteries series, set in the mid-1890s.
