A missing mother. A trail gone cold. A menace that follows them home.
Detective Nora Sommer made a promise to Jazzy, the teenager she'd taken under her wing: they'd track down her birth mother. But when they travel to Florida, they find the woman missing, and their search runs dry at an empty apartment and an indifferent local police department.
Returning home to Grand Cayman, Nora soon discovers they haven't left everything behind in Fort Lauderdale, and when a government subsidised housing scheme seems too good to be true, it becomes clear someone would prefer her to stop looking.
The twelfth book in the series brings Jazzy's past into the present, while Nora's own buried secrets come under scrutiny, leaving them both struggling to keep their heads above water.
Genre: Mystery
