Found an alien starship? Try one better, finding an entire abandoned alien battlefort buried under the ice of Antarctica full of short range ships, radically advanced technology, and a ticking clock to doomsday.
Earth is actually an abandoned colony of a galactic empire with an illegal population. We're descended from a few slaves that got left behind when the planet was abandoned during a short-lived galactic civil war and nobody knows we're out here. When they find out, we're as good as dead.
Enter Star Force, a civilian corporation built off the secret alien technologies that is helping Humanity take its first steps into space colonization...all the while building a space military in secret to begin the long, arduous process of catching up to the rest of the galaxy while Earth's governments twiddle their thumbs and do nothing productive as usual.
A secret recruitment program is put into place, and the first generation of the Archons are brought together. Using alien knowledge and technology, they will be the first generation of super-soldiers that will lead Humanity out into the stars. They will master all elements of warfare and take on the impossible task of trying to defend Earth against a conglomeration of alien races that own half the galaxy.
The question is, how much time is left on the ticking clock?

This series was originally written as serialized novellas, 100 episodes long in what comprised the 'Origin Series'. The story continues on after that, but in 2016 the Origin Series was condensed into 25 books with four episodes per book, making them the length of a standard novel. The 'Star Force Universe' numbering is for the entire franchise with the exclusion of the spinoff 'Starship Fleet Commander' series that has its own numbering. So when you see two sets of numbering on the cover, the SFU is for the overall reading order, and the 'Origin Series' is for this grouping of books and other subsets that follow within the franchise.
