Killing Time
(2027)(The third book in the Murphy's Law series)
A novel by J A Johnstone and William W Johnstone
Marshal Cullen Murphy—a legend as big as the Lone Star State itself—keeps the peace with true grit and a fast draw in this action packed adventure from national bestselling authors William W. and J.A. Johnstone . . .
Newtown is a prosperous place for the folks who live there, selling goods and services to the farmers and ranchers working small spreads in the Texas Hill Country. One of the town’s most respected citizens is Cullen Murphy. After a hardscrabble life as a drover and soldier, the Confederate veteran made Newtown his home, founding his own ranch—and accepting the position of town marshal.
Amos Bryson of the Circle-B ranch would also like to call Newtown his home. It’s the perfect land to raise and enlarge his herd of cattle—acquired illegally in Mexico—and build an empire by eliminating the local competition. It’s a grand vision that requires Bryson to offer the town’s policymakers and law enforcers some compensation for their assistance in this matter. But Marshal Cullen Murphy’s badge isn’t for sale.
And when Murphy puts down Bryson’s detestable son like a rabid dog for attempting to kill a woman, the rancher hires gunslinger Rubin Cain to put the marshal six feet under. Now, both Bryson and Cain are going to learn what it means when a man of principle who doesn’t shy from using deadly force upholds the law . . .
