A collection of stories written by acclaimed science fiction author, Raymond F. Jones. Jones was among the stalwart group of early sci-fi pulp writers who popularized the genre.

Obviously, an anthology of this nature will not please everybody perfectly because there is a wide variety of themes and stylistic approaches represented in this book. Nevertheless, this is an excellent collection of stories from a wide variety of different themes, styles, viewpoints, subjects, tones and genres.

In this volume:

Story One: THE MEMORY OF MARS - A mystery. A man's wife is taken to the hospital for emergency surgery following a car accident. In the operating room, the doctor makes an unusual discovery. This prompts the husband to investigate his wife's past, including a vacation to Mars they took together. The trouble is, he doesn't remember the trip at all...

Story Two: YEAR WHEN STARDUST FELL - Here is science fiction at its thrilling best. A startling and thought-provoking book that shows how human nature might react to catastrophe.

The copper-yellow glow of the comet seemed to have brought the whole world to a grinding halt. Finally man was left with only a few primitive tools. In the resulting chaos parts of Mayfield were burned and looted by hunger-crazed mobs that stole and killed as they advanced...

Story Three: THE COLONISTS - If historical precedent be wrong - what qualities, then, must man possess to successfully colonize new worlds?

Story Four: THE UNLEARNED - The scientists of Rykeman III were conceded by all the galactic members to be supreme in scientific achievement. Now the Rykes were going to share their vast knowledge with the scientists of Earth. To any question they would supply an answer - for a price. And Hockley, of all Earth's scientists, was the stubborn one who wanted to weigh the answers with the costs...

Story Five: HUMAN ERROR - The government was spending a billion dollars to convince the human race that men ought to be ashamed to be men - instead of errorless, cybernetics machines. But they forgot that an errorless man is a dead man...

Story Six: CUBS OF THE WOLF - Cameron can travel to the Marcovian Nucleus to study their strange evolution from a Piratical dangerous society to a passive one which now gets along with everyone. The transition is puzzling and the Markovians don't like to talk about it. What is going on? Finding out how a transition of this type has taken place may be groundbreaking to the study of societal evolution...

Story Seven: THE GREAT GRAY PLAGUE - There is no enemy so hard to fight as a dull gray fog. It's not solid enough to beat, too indefinite to kill, and too omnipresent to escape...

These are the original and unabridged versions of these pulp tales.

A must-have for fans of classic sci-fi!
