The Rose Both Red and White

Margaret Tudor, the elder daughter of Henry VII, made the hazardous journey north to marry James IV, King of the Scots, a man she had never met. As his Queen, she vied for his affection against the counter attractions of several mistresses. At last, with the birth of a son and heir, she began to experience a tremulous happiness, but James denied its fruition on the field of Flodden. Widowed, beautiful and only twenty-four, she rushed headlong into a foolish union and quickly discovered that she had chosen the wrong man.
