The Territory

(2019)
(The fifth book in the American West series)
A novel by

Liam Clancy, Irish immigrant and Union Army veteran, has recently lost his wife and unborn child to cholera.
Grieving, he heads west to start over and ends up in the Territory of New Mexico, as wild and dangerous a place as any that exists in the American west.
The Apache Indians are apt to bolt from the reservation at any time. The Santa Fe Ring, an alliance of crooked lawyers, politicians, and land speculators, controls the courts. Cattle theft, 'rustling', is for many a way of life. Every man is armed and bad whiskey is common, as is over-indulgence. Fights that might involve fists in other times and places are settled by guns in the Territory. The usual verdict for the killer? Self-defense.
But Liam has come this far, he will go no further.
Crooked sheriffs and corrupt politicians, beware!
He will fight to protect himself, his property, and the young woman he intends to make his bride!
