The incredibly commercial whimsy of astrology and light magic iconography meets the diary format of Diary of a Wimpy Kid!

Ryder is super excited about the first day of the new school year because she’s not the old uncool person she used to be, not after spending the summer in New York with her cool Aunt Diane.

Ryder now has all the tools she needs to read the signs of the universe and finally make the school year go her way. She’s subscribed to StarSigns and she takes their daily horoscopes pretty seriously, following them has really helped sooth her nerves, no need to worry about making decisions! The stars have already decided!

Sure, her horoscope didn’t predict the zit that appeared overnight before the first day, or dad packing a smelly tuna sandwich for lunch, or … and this one is a big one… that her old nemesis Libby would also be at her new school. AND she’s also resident popular girl. But the stars can’t be perfect and she’s pretty sure mercury is in retrograde this month.

Ryder was very excited to fill her bestie, Yaz, in on everything Aunt Diane taught her over the summer. But Yaz was just back from robotics camp and she seems to have made new friends. Ryder looked up their star signs on the app, and it turns out that Geminis and Capricorns are not that compatible, so she’s going to have to find herself a new bestie, perhaps a libra who better fits her vibe.

You know… Libby is a libra… and she already hinted at using Ryder’s new skill to help match-make her with her crush. Maybe if Ryder follows her horoscope perfectly, she can earn a seat at the popular kids lunch table.
