Desire's Masquerade

(1987)
A novel by

Rich stonework and tapestries surrounded them in the castle's banquet hall, but Lady Madrigal and the stranger saw only each other. Stephen Valentine had come to seek an audience with the king, but had found the woman of his dreams - the daughter of his sworn enemy.

The attraction they felt for each other was even stronger than the love songs the minstrels sang about. To become lovers seemed to be his destiny... and hers. But treachery stalked the castle's dark corridors and Madrigal was forced to desperately flee for her life.

Returning from Venice to seek an audience with Richard III, English nobleman, Stephen Valentine was soon to learn that his confiscated lands and property had been turned over to the king's ward - Madrigal Renfred. In disappointment Stephen had no other choice but to return to the city of gondolas, canals, and courtesans, little realizing that the woman he had vowed to destroy was accompanying him, disguised as a minstrel.
