The Crimson Sombrero

A novel by

It was 1897 and an American diplomatic mission which included Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show was enroute by train to Pamplona, Spain to meet with King Alfonso III. They would discuss the Cuban problem, a country which Spain ruled over with an iron fist, and at the same time be there for the Running of the Bulls festival.

Others were heading for Pamplona, among them Cristina Montez, a Cuban espia known only to the Spanish as The Peacock.

And Rio Magill, once upon a time a Wyoming cowhand and now a member of the Wild West Show. Rio had ran into Cristina Montez in San Sebastian, where the first meeting with the King of Spain was to take place, only to be cancelled. Somehow she had preferred his company to that of the more polish Spaniards, and then one day she disappeared, which mystified Rio as much as Cristina did whenever they were together.

Little did Rio Magill realize but that in the not too distant future they would meet again and in the violence to follow their lives would be entwined forever.
