Doctor Thomas Grant is a man accustomed to loss. The widower spends most of his days tending to the town’s sick, trying to get over the grieve of losing his wife and child in childbirth.

When Mabel Walker arrives in the secluded Colorado town, however, she shakes things up for Thomas.

Asked by a dying father to seek out her half-brother, Mabel comes out west to find that her half-brother is a drunkard, violent and aggressive, and disrespects women.

But Mabel is not one to abandon someone in need. She sets to the task of sobering up her abusive brother – a task which proves just as difficult as it is dangerous.

Deep down, Mabel longs for more purpose in life. She is an avid learner. When her brother gets into a nasty fight, she turns to the only doctor in town for help, Thomas. As Thomas tends to her brother, Mabel is fascinated by what he does.

After a little while, she plucks up the courage to ask Thomas to teach her what he knows about medicine. As they spend more time together, the romance between them blossoms.

But outside forces – Mabel’s menacing brother, a young man new to town falling for Mabel, and a dangerous childbirth that nearly ends in disaster – conspire against them, trying to pull them apart at every turn.

Will the pair be strong enough to fight for love above all, or will the harsh reality of their situations be enough to drive them apart forever?

A Christian western historical romance; no cheating, no cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Genre: Romance
