SHE CALLED HIM THE BEAST FROM THE EAST
SHE PROMISED TO MAKE HIM EXTINCT
From 2011 to 2014 Ukrainian émigré Viktor Krykun headed an organization helping Russian dissidents escape to the West, a philanthropic venture that made an enemy of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. When Krykun is poisoned to death by Russian agents his British-born daughter, Eileen, devastated by her loss, vows revenge.
She takes up her father’s cudgel as people-smuggler and prepares to escort a fleeing couple to Poland. She is aided by Pete Chandler, a reformed contract killer who works for the Krykun organization. Not long afterwards Chandler is approached by the underground green movement, GreenWar, to eliminate the Russian president as an example to other dictators. Eileen accidentally learns of this project and uses her
substantial parental inheritance to buy a piece of it.
What follows is a gripping tale shrouded in secrecy. The would-be assassins encounter unforeseen obstacles in their initial attempt during an international conference in Australia. Eileen, refusing to concede failure, embarks on a second attempt, this time with her own finger on the metaphorical trigger.
This detailed account records the poisoning of Viktor Krykun, the recruitment of the assassin, the enormous fee for the task, the intricate planning, the FSB’s clandestine activities, Putin’s ruthlessness, and the ingenious protective measures surrounding him.
